Happy Birthday Arcade Fire's Régine Chassagne
Régine Chassagne turns 40 today. Musician, singer and songwriter she's a founding member of the Canadian Indie-rock band Arcade Fire. She is married to co-founder Win Butler.
Régine Alexandra Chassagne was born in Montreal, Quebec, Canada on August 18, 1976. She was singing jazz at an art opening at Concordia in 2000 when Win Butler met her and persuaded her to join his band, the Arcade Fire.
She plays many instruments on stage, including accordion, drums, xylophone, hurdy-gurdy, keyboards and organ. She also performs lead vocals on some Arcade Fire's songs.
Chassagne has also been involved with a medieval band called Les Jongleurs de la Mandragore and a jazz band, Azúcar.
In March 2015, Chassagne, along with husband and Arcade Fire band mate Win Butler, attended the launch of music streaming service Tidal, and revealed themselves, along with other notable artists, as shareholders in the company
As a member of the Arcade Fire Régine won 2 Brit Awards, 1 Grammy Award, 8 Juno Awards, 1 Plug Award and 1 Polaris Music Prize.
