Deftones’ Chino Moreno to Play Inside a Volcano
Today Chino Moreno will perform, for 20 lucky people, inside the Icelandic Thrihnuagigur volcano, 400 feet deep in the magma chamber .
This weekend Deftones will headline Iceland’s 'Secret Solstice' festival this year, but there’s a twist.
Deftones frontman Chino Moreno has announced he will play a solo acoustic set inside Thrihnuagigur volcano today (June 18th), with the event aptly titled 'Secret Solstice presents Inside The Volcano'.
A press release claims this is the first time in history an artist has performed publicly inside a volcano. Icelandic act Snorri Helgason will play a few tracks acoustically as well, opening the performance for Moreno.
20 lucky fans will be lowered 400 feet for the performance, which will be held inside the volcano’s dormant magma chamber.
For this small number of ticket holders, all of whom are flying in to Iceland from abroad, this will surely be the performance of a lifetime, especially now with the Deftones frontman being revealed as the performer.
Apparently this is all very safe; the last time Thrihnuagigur erupted was about 4,000 years ago.
