Nirvana Baby Recreates ‘Nevermind’ Album Cover 25 Years Later
Spencer Elden, the naked swimming baby from the cover of the groundbreaking Nirvana album ‘Nevermind’, re-enacted the image for the record’s 25th anniversary. And this time wearing clothes!
Spencer Elden, an artist from Los Angeles 25 today, wanted to go “au naturel” when he made a splash to honor the legendary grunge band, he told The NY Post.
“I said to the photographer, let’s do it naked”. But he thought that would be weird, so I wore my swim shorts” said Elden.
“It’s cool but weird to be part of something so important that I don’t even remember” said Elden.
In 1991, photographer Kirk Weddle asked Elden’s parents if he could use the baby for a photoshoot for the then-unknown band. The shoot lasted 15 seconds and Elden’s parents made only $200.
Elden did the same thing 10 years ago, in honor of the album’s 15th anniversary.
