My Chemical Romance frontman Gerard Way releases new graphic novel
“The Umbrella Academy” writer and former My Chemical Romance frontman to curate new mature reader pop-up imprint for DC Comics, debuting four new titles this fall.
The imprint’s flagship title will be a revival of Way's Doom Patrol series, which will be scripted by the singer and feature art by Nick Derington.
Talking about the project, Gerard said: “I seeYoung Animal as a place to try new ideas - following the spirit of those books from the past but bring them somewhere else." The rocker added: “I see it as an imprint where we can explore fine art, bold concepts, mature themes, and strangeness - with lots of heart.” Way also writed on twitter: “I promise to honor the legacy of this book- that is to say I'm going to put it in a fucking blender.I woke up at 5:30am, most likely due to all the excitement. I might as well get coffee and start writing- I have a lot of that to do!"
The lineup includes: DOOM PATROL, SHADE, THE CHANGING GIRL, CAVE CARSON HAS A CYBERNETIC EYE, MOTHER PANIC.
