VIDEO: 'Shooter Jennings + Marilyn Manson' Covering 'David Bowie + Giorgio Moroder' CAT PEOPLE
Earlier this year, country rockstar Shooter Jennings revealed that he and Manson first discussed the song during a party at a bar. “I said, ‘Hey, you know ‘Cat People’? You want to do that song on this record, ’cause you’d sound awesome doing it”, recalled Jannings “And he was like, ‘I sing that song every night before I go onstage. That’s my song I warm up to.’ So one night I went over to his house at three in the morning and brought all my recording gear”.
The clip has a very distinctive look, mirroring how gaming used to look, as directors Valenberg and Blake Judd deliver a pixelated piece of art with a dark storyline filled with sex, arson and possibly the end of times. Jennings and Manson both appear in the clip in pixelated form and you can watch it play out in the video above. “I love this song, Manson’s vocals, and Valenberg’s pixel art,” says Jennings. “It’s like a Super Nintendo version of a John Carpenter film”.
